What is Invisalign®?
Invisalign® uses a sequence of plastic, clear, custom-made, and removable aligner trays that are worn over your teeth, and work to slowly move your teeth over time into the position your dentist has outlined for you. They are customized to your teeth, using very precise calculations and a specific plan designed by you and your dental specialist, so you can rest assured that the final result will be a smile that truly fits you! The trays are very comfortable to wear and virtually invisible to anyone else; no one will know you are wearing them unless you tell them!
How Long Will Invisalign® Treatment Take?
While Invisalign® treatment varies depending on the patient, and you and your dental specialist will determine what is best for you, general treatment time is between 9-15 months. Each set of aligner trays is worn for approximately 2 weeks before they are changed out to the next set in the series. You will see your dental specialist every 4-6 weeks in order to check your progress and review your new aligner trays. For best results, Invisalign® aligners should be worn for 20-22 hours a day for the full duration of your treatment, allowing up to 2 hours per day to remove them for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing.
